Beltane and Wesak Full Moon Ceremonies

Spring is coming alive in our part of the world, here in Canada, and last weekend we got to experience Beltane and the Wesak Full Moon the biggest Full Moon of the year (Super Full Moon).

I had never heard of Beltane until a few years back when our daughter had spent a few months on a small island off the coast of British Columbia. When she was there that May, she was telling me about the celebrations that were happening in that small community.

With a little research of what I could do, I stumbled upon this article here. I really liked the idea of the Wish Box Charm to help bring our hopes, dreams and aspirations to life. When my husband returned home that afternoon, I asked if he’d be interested in doing this together with me. He agreed to it. By the time he had returned home it was late afternoon so we didn’t have much time to get this together before sunset.

We set off to look up symbols that were significant to us that we wanted to include: words, items, and photos that represented specific things to us and our family.

In the Wish Box Charm we included items such as coins, the silver ones for abundance, and the copper ones for new job. My husband has been laid off for 6 weeks now from his construction job… its one of those long stretches where new contracts have not come together yet. So manifesting work for him was definitely included in our Wish Box. We also included a thimble for hearth and home which is where our world unfolds. An apple for knowledge and a key for protection. An old part to a door lock, a circle, seeing it as a portal we can be lead through into a new world, where better things awaits us. We even included a photo of 2 little piglets, for pig animal medicine is such a powerful totem for prosperity and spiritual strength. It helps you face life-problems and emerge the conqueror, and we can use a little medicine with this.

Then there’s the Celtic Cross for hope, faith, balance, transition and navigation. We braided blue and green ribbons for health, healing, and renewed strength. We found a dried up oak leaf left from last fall, included this in the box as well… for life, strength, wisdom, family, and power. We have a few oak trees on our property, one in particular has been here since we built our home 30 years ago now. It is such a symbol of strength for me when I look at that tree. I recently read that oak is a powerful, life-affirming symbol. We included the oak tree acorn that we found, it’s for good luck as well as strength and power. The OM symbol, Infinity symbol, Yin/Yang symbol and lots of rose petals for love, health faith, beauty, and passion. We included the Elements chart for Water, Air, Earth, Fire and the Spirit symbols, and the Triple Moon Goddess symbol. We wrote our wishes and desires on a piece of paper for us and our family and then covered the contents with soil in the box.

A little digging in our yard, and watering to help our dreams and wishes grow. We visualized these things in the box growing and being manifested in our lives. It was such a nice ceremony to do together. I’m so grateful that my husband wanted to do this with me.

Nature is really coming to back to life around here. It’s such a welcoming sight, and the sounds of the birds singing is so incredibly awesome to wake up to after a long cold winter. Nature brings so many gifts for us once it begins to wake up in the spring.

On the Wesak Full Moon (the biggest full moon of the year) I decided to put out all of our family’s crystals. They hadn’t been cleansed and re-energized in a long time, and what better time than with the Full Moon’s potent energy. This was another fun ceremony to do once it got dark out.

After I put all our crystals out, I wondered if little animals or birds might come around and take off with some my crystals. It crossed my mind, so instead of worrying I decided to ask the little nature Fairies to keep the birds and animals busy elsewhere. I asked them to keep my crystals safe.

These photos were taken at sunrise the next morning.

Having spent time with all these crystals last weekend, I was inspired me to begin using them again. This week I chose to use Howlite and Hematite to help with the constant insomnia that I have dealt with for the past few months. So far I have slept so much better this week by just using these two crystals under my pillow.

Cheers to each of you… and to a lovely spring, or whatever season you might be in.

Cheers!! Here's to a lovely spring.

  5. What a lovely post Suzanne. It’s a delight to peek into your practices. What a thoughtful and beautiful wish box you created, and how wonderful your husband participated as well. And what a joy to see all your beautiful crystals and stones. While I don’t believe our stone being friends actually need to be cleared, I do think they love the occasional return to lie on the Earth, and certainly enjoy the attention we give to them just as all good friends do. What a lovely gathering you have!

  6. Beautiful. We have tried, as a family, to do some special ceremonies around the Spring Equinox or the Summer Solstice, but I think we made the mistake of trying to follow an agenda that didn’t exactly ring true for us. We went out of a book, and while that is great for ideas, I think the boys would have been more into it if we talked about it like this, and let them choose things to focus on like you have with your wish box. Thank you. I will have to try this.

  8. Just simply lovely, Suzanne! What an eye you have for depth, textures, colours, placement, etc. A Wish Box! What a great idea! You reminded me also that my crystals have not seen the full moon in a long time. Believe me, those crystals have been quite busy especially in the last few months! 🙂 xo

Glad to hear the crystals are helping you sleep. They are beautiful. I thought Monica had a lot of crystals. I think you may have more.

Looking forward to more of your insights. Love that Gary shared the wish box ceremony with you. It sounds like a lovely bonding experience.

  12. Gorgeous pictures! I love the beautiful crystals. What type are the purpley ones in the 5th photo? (5th crystal pic). They’re lovely. 🙂 I love the sky picture too.
