2013 New Year – The Journey Inward

A brand new year is upon us, a brand new chunk of time. This always brings me to a time of reflection, you can read about my 2012 year here. I have taken the time to quietly reflect about the direction that I’m going in and what I’d like to work on in the next year. In this blog post you will find some of those insights into 2013 and what it means to me.

2013 New Year

This year I seem to be choosing to look at the upcoming year slightly different from earlier years. I am choosing to explore it using numerology instead of setting resolutions or writing a letter to my future self like I have done in the past. I may still decide to choose a word(s) for 2013 to focus on, I’m just not clear on that one yet.

2013 brings me into a #7 personal year in numerology. If you’d like to learn more about what that might be for you then I suggest that you Google ‘numerology personal year’ and that should bring you to websites that will explain how to figure out your personal year and also what that might mean for you or better yet find a numerologist who can share so much more with you.

2013 will bring me the energy, influence and experiences of a 7-personal year. It is a year that I find myself welcoming in, but also one that may prove to be challenging unless I just surrender into it. I’d love to share a few things that I have found about the meaning of going into a 7-year…
#7 personal year numerology

What is a 7-year?

These keywords are associated with being in a 7-year… patience, meditation, higher-frequency, understanding deeper mysteries of life/death, and awakening divine wisdom. It’s a year for introspection, to pause and reflect between what are very busy years, to spend time in solitude, silence, seclusion, rest, retreat, read and travel. It’s a year for spiritual awakening and enlightenment, go on a spiritual quest. Pay attention or illness could slow you down. In a 7-year you begin to wonder about your life purpose. This will be a year to look within with 20/20 insights to gain a better understanding of my spiritual life. Intuition is enhanced, and it’s the best year to align with my Higher Self for greater spiritual understanding.

It’s time to question more the meaning of life, as well as diving into more philosophical pursuits. Take time to ponder where I have been and where I may be going. Mental house clearing is in order. Really draw attention to my soul.

It’s a perfect time to pursue studies in new age, spiritual, mystic and psychic interests. Best time to study and find the time to gain more education, write and upgrade and refine any skills that I might have and be sure to find outlets for personal creative expression.

It is not a time to think or act. Retreat from business demands, all the while planning for the future. This is an excellent time for developing a field of expertise.

Embarking on the spiritual journey is like getting into a very small boat and setting out on the ocean to search for unknown lands. ~ Pema Chodron

There will be no more escaping for me this upcoming year. I can no longer ignore the energy that the #7 is bringing into my life. I have felt those changes coming for the last month or so and along with it has come an amplification of fears and anxiety. Already it is very clear that it will not be a year of action, or hiding behind being busy, or ignoring where it is that I need to go. But I have been so good at doing that and now I’m feeling the huge shift that I have to make in my life.

I must admit that I’m feeling terrified, actually I’m squirming in my seat. I feel like I have no other option left but to go on a journey in a quiet space all alone with only my thoughts and feelings in hope of quieting my mind. It’s where I’m at and I know it. It truly is a time for a deeper spiritual commitment, one where I must create a daily spiritual practice for myself. There is no more space left for me to make excuses. It scares me because I know that there will be no one there to hold my hand, or to do it for me or even to tell me how to do it. I am no longer choosing to hide behind teachers, masters or even classes that have kept me distracted from going there. And all that busy-ness that I have created in my life to avoid going on that inward journey, it has to go. I need to let go of fear, surrender and go within and find the Light that is waiting to shine brighter so it can teach me. I cannot figure out why in the world that would even scare me? Why am I so afraid to connect with my Higher Self, that God part that resides in me? I believe that Marianne Williamson is right when she says… It is our Light and not our darkness that most frightens us.

So off I go in attempt to explore this journey alone in 2013. It will not be a small feat, but one that I pray I can fall into easily and master this next year!

We don’t receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us.
~ Marcel Proust

What I am truly seeking is… inner peace, love and quieting my mind. Learning how to breathe deeply and slowly so I can connect with wisdom, knowledge and deeper truths. By creating a daily spiritual practice I hope to be able to attain deeper understanding and expansion and to create harmony in my heart and soul. Slowing my pace would be a welcome in my life as well. I wish to create a healthier body, mind and spirit connection. They are all things that I cannot buy. They are all things that cannot be given to me by someone else. They are all things where I must go and be brave enough to explore on my own. They are all things that are right there for me right now if I so choose it, which is all easier said than done. I want to achieve inner peace so I can enjoy my life more fully, and that is what 2013 is going to be for me.

I am embarking on an inner voyage!

Without setting any high expectations with goals this year I see part of that inner voyage also including exploring with creativity… painting… even a little bit of photography (I got a new camera for Christmas)… writing and if I feel like it I’ll take out a family book that I had been working on that has been put away since 4 years. I feel ready to see this huge project come to completion one day.

There will be a retreat, an adventure or a get-away of some sort with my sister sometime this year in celebration of her 50th and my 55th birthday. I love that we are both in a #7 personal year in numerology in 2013. I cannot wait to tell you all about our adventure when we will return. Nothing is decided yet so even I have to be patient and wait on this one.

I have some online classes, but I am keeping that at a minimum in 2013 and making it stress-free and giving myself the option to opt out if it doesn’t fully feel right. I see myself reading a lot more in 2013 on topics such as spirituality and even sacred texts. I want to spend time connecting more with Reiki, Karuna, Sphe-Re, and Law of Attraction to help me make this year of deeper connection an easier one.

Oh, there’s Vipassana 10-day Meditation Retreat which I have heard about twice recently and there’s something about it that is calling me. So that remains to be seen whether I will choose to do it or not. This could help me transform this part of my life this year in a big way I feel if I was brave enough to just go for it.

I will explore Bowen Therapy training and see if that is something that I really want to study or not. If so, then that will begin in the spring.

The pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago, you can read about it here, as shared by one young woman on her journey of walking the Camino this fall. It is something that my sister and I hope to do together one day. 2013 probably won’t be the year that we will walk it for different reasons.

In 2013 you will be able to find me hanging out in my sacred space in attempt to meditate, quiet my mind and connect to that deeper part of myself that I don’t explore very often. That alone will be enough for me to focus on this next year.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to share with you what has been my first year of blogging. Today on New Year’s Eve, my website reached it’s 10,000th view since day one back on April 27th 2012. What a beautiful gift 2012 has been for me! xo

May the New Year of 2013 bless you and may all of your wishes and dreams com true!!

  1. This numerology thing is so interesting. Thank you Suzanne, I will look it up. You appear to be so focussed and in charge! I’m still wondering what is up ahead! I’d like to participate this month in the blog circle if you don’t mind telling me again how it works. I was a bit confused by the file description. Have a lovely year ahead, Suzanne!

  2. Suzanne, as someone who has just come out of a 7 year and gone into the more active 8 (I have felt the shift over the last month too), let me reassure you… seven years are wonderful! I coupled my 7 year with the word gratitude and it worked a treat. I had the most wonderful year. And your hopes and dreams for your year sound perfectly in line with what’s ahead. May you have the best of years. xo

  4. I love the idea of using numerology to help guide you. I’d like to learn more about this. Is there a resource that you feel is best to dig into first?

You room of peace is glorious. Thank you so much for sharing it. Especially the “books” part. I read like a wolf eats and sometimes I worry that I do too much reading and not enough experiencing. My shelves are bursting. It made me feel like maybe I’m not so nuts when I saw your shelves. So, thank you for sharing this part of you.

I am very interested in your journey inward, Suzanne. And, I hope you post often about it. I feel like I journeyed inward a lot last year, so this year I’m striving more for action and experience, but I love the journey inward, too, and we can never be done transforming.

    • Hi Shari, I laughed when I read that you have lots of books too. I think every home needs a library. 🙂

I’d love to know what number you are in this year with numerology. It sounds like you may be in an 8 year but I could be wrong too. I don’t really have resources for numerology. I have seen an intuitive numerologist for my readings other than finding a bit of information here and there online. See if you can find someone local that does this maybe. It’s a lot of fun and very helpful too I must add.

Thanks for dropping by. I do plan on sharing about my journey inward this year.

  5. Fascinating! I googled the numerology thing..to find out that I’m a ‘5’ this year. It sort of makes sense..and sort of doesn’t…but such a wonderful way to begin. Thank-you..and happy new year!

  6. Love it! It takes great courage to move forward and not stay in the familiar. I’m really cheering for you!

  7. Thank you for a wonderful post, very thought provoking for me as I have typically centered my resolutions around measurable goals. I like the numerology approach and will research that more because of your insights here. I was on track for picking a word too. Thank you!

You are a woman of many interests. Each time a read your posts I find out something new. Now I will have to look into numeralogy! Good luck with your interests this year. Please keep creativity at the top of your list, I’m looking forward to painting with you!

    • For sure Sue, creativity is up there for me this year. I’m almost starting to count the days until we start our Flora Bowley class. lol Thanks for coming over to read. xo

  9. Numerology is a fascinating lens to look through, and it certainly sounds like there’s lots of deep things and wondrous for you to explore this year! Deep inner work always requires courage but the rewards are unlike anything else. But I’m also thinking like Carin mentions, that this is going to be a wonderful year for you. May it be filled with all your heart desires!

    • Love your message and well wishes Deborah. Thank you. May 2013 be a wonderful year for you as well! Loved meeting you last year. May our paths continue to cross this year. xo

    • I just loved reading that you are also curious about Numerology now. It’s a lot of fun once you get to find out more about your personal numbers especially if you go and see a numerologist to share more than just the year you are in. It’s great fun and filled with so many insights that help you with so many things in life. Have fun with it. Loved having you here. xo

  11. Fascinating, Suzanne. I’m a 1. New beginnings. How suitable as I launch my art and business.

May this be a fantastic year for ALL of us!

    • Susan, I’m just thrilled to hear that you are in a 1 personal year and what you have planned to launch this year. You could not have picked a better year. Talk about an awesome next 9 year chunk of time with you stepping into your grandness with your art and business. They say that what we start in a 1 year goes with us for the next 9 years. Wishing you the most wonderful year ever and decade too! xo

  12. Ok…you got me on the numerology thing. I will check that out. I am on that journey inward too. You are not alone.
I always learn so much from you. Karuna and Sphe-Re? So thankful for google.
I love that we are involved in a community of sharing. It allows me to grow and experience things that I might never otherwise know or learn about. Thank you for sharing and for supporting me in my attempts. It means so much to me. Wishing us a rewarding journey inward!

    • Hi Karen, I love that I got you curious about numerology. It really can help us on our journey whether it’s inward on a year 7 or otherwise. If you can find a numerologist to do a reading for you and explain it all, it makes such a difference. I love it.

I loved hearing that you enjoy what I’m sharing and all the learning we are doing from each other. It’s a wonderful community I totally agree. Here’s to a quieter year for me and you. 🙂 xo

  13. Suzanne, No way! Looks like I am in a 7 year, also. I don’t mind the idea of some down time & certainly am feeling due for alone time . . . but I’ve been pressingly busy getting ready for my art show in 2 weeks. I keep telling myself I can breathe after that. All blessing to you, and me, and all of us, on our 2013 adventures!
    Janet recently posted..GratitudeMy Profile

    • Oh Janet, I’m so happy to have someone join me in a 7 personal year. Love that it’s you. 🙂
I hope that you can make it through with ease to your art show in a few weeks. By the sounds of it though you should probably lay low after than and take a lot of time for yourself this year. My numerologist wrote in her January newsletter that those in a 7 personal year should take the year to go and sit on a mountaintop! Care to join me? xo

  14. Happy New Year! May your number 7 bring you lots of inspiration! Much love to you! <3
