Welcome to my sacred space

Welcome to my sacred space

It’s my Reiki – healing – meditation – reading – quiet room…

It’s been several months since this room got a makeover… a few new windows, paint and lighting. My husband is incredible to do all these things for me. He also made me a corner altar when I asked him.

In this room what you’ll find represents a big part of who I am

so much of what I have discovered and learned in this last decade

Reiki, energy healing and alternative therapies

this is where you’ll find my books, lots of books on spirituality, healing, Reiki, crystals, alternative therapies, energy healing and a few more

my Cherub Angels that Grandma gave me when I was 14 years old that I still cherish to this day more than ever

my crystals

a print by Jessica Swift ‘Abundant Thoughts‘ (love the crystals in the print) – frame made by my husband

it’s a room that is not only mine but my husband uses it also

it’s a place where I have been very blessed to have received many Reiki sessions from him

Sacred Space

I love all of my books and that little corner in my Reiki room

I visualize a nice IKEA chair near the bookcases sometime in 2013

my collection of meditation music and my favourite inspirational cd’s

the framed Angels art print borrowed from my daughter

lots of sage to smudge our home

a hand-blown glass ornament

Sacred Space

a Reiki bed that has a wool blanket which is close to 60 years old, my husband grew up using as a child and a handmade fleece blanket

an Angel guarding the door to the room

Mala beads that my daughter made for me a few years ago

crystal singing bowls

my Reiki Prayer box that my husband made with symbols burned into the wood

Sacred Space

oracle cards, lots of them

a few spiritual movies that I love to watch

Totem Conscious competence ladder that my daughter made for me

Eraden crystal soul set

a few of my favourite pictures…

my son and husband standing with the sun glowing between them at Tofino, British Columbia a few years ago

my daughter with a beautiful butterfly that landed on her and stayed there for what seemed like forever

my Reiki Prayer box

Sacred Space

abalone shell with sage

more crystals

and books

Sacred Space

this is my sacred space

a place that holds many of the things that I treasure

it’s a quiet place

a place to stop, pause and contemplate

a place to heal

to slow down

to pray

to express gratitude for all the many blessings in my life!

  1. How I love this space! I am not even standing in it and it makes me feel at peace. I would love to be there to scour the bookshelves! How utterly tempting for this curious book-lover! Love that table and the crystals. Ok. That’s it. You’ve motivated me to make some more changes to my home office!

    Thanks for the tour, Suzanne!

    • Glad you enjoyed the tour. I have a matching guardian angel for the opposite side of the door (left side) that I cannot use because the wall/door frame are touching. If you have a place for it, let me know and it’s yours… an Angel to protect/guard your room/home.

  3. Suzanne, what a beautiful tour of your room that is clearly a home for your heart. How wonderful to share such things so deeply with your closest family. What wonderful talent you all have. It reminds me of the rooms in Chris Casson Madden’s book “A Room of Her Own”. Here is a link to her website. http://www.amazon.com/Room-Her-Own-Womens-Personal/dp/0517599392

    • Welcome Sue. I’m glad you found an idea to use for your own room. My husband made the corner altar. I’m still trying to figure out how to set it up exactly like I want it to look. Nice having you here.

  9. That is amazing, Suzanne! The room is a reflection of where you are today. Thank you so much for sharing your space of peace, serenity and joy! One day I will do the same. I also have the altar, books, oracle cards angels, but not in a designated room. …xo

    • I have seen your comfy corner in your studio. If I recall your big comfy chair was once your mother’s chair. I love your sacred comfy space all within your art studio. Thanks for dropping by Susan. xo

    Hi Suzanne,
This is a beautiful post. I am so inspired by seeing it and appreciate the attention to detail and how every item in this room has a special meaning and purpose. I am a book lover too and have lots and lots of them, many in the same subjects as you. Love the altar! And would love to know more about Reiki. I did have one Reiki massage several years ago in Arizona. It was so restful and peaceful. How amazing that your husband can do that for you! Thanks for sharing, now I want to make a sacred space 🙂

    • Hi Dawn, thank you for dropping by. You may just love Reiki and learning it possibly? I hope with time to write more of my thoughts and experiences with it. In the meantime there’s so much information online that you can find on the subject. Have fun creating a sacred space, even a corner to start is always wonderful. xo

  12. Oh, how beautiful, Suzanne. I was just saying to my husband that I wanted to create a sanctuary in our home. A place that is peaceful & filled with light. Seeing your sacred space inspires my heart. Just beautiful!

  16. Oh, I just love your space! As a new empty nester, I’m finding ways to create sacred space in every room and now have an office to set up. My mala beads are so special to me…I have never thought of displaying them somewhere but now I’m thinking I may want to…but where…hmmmm…now you’ve got me thinking.
