Riding at the stable

Today is a cool, damp and rainy Sunday. This afternoon we took our son riding at a stable with one of the young women that used to do ABA therapy with him at home. She has her own horse that boards there and once in a while she will do riding lessons with our son when he’s in the mood to go.

We dropped him off at the stable so he could groom the horse he was going to ride today and prepare him for riding.

Meanwhile I dragged my husband out for a walk in the rain. I gave him our daughter’s ballerina umbrella. I didn’t think he would notice. I thought that could also possibly suit a construction worker, if he didn’t pay attention that is. He wasn’t too thrilled to be going for a walk in the rain, but he came anyway. I wanted to go and take a few photos and get a bit of exercise while we waited for our son.

I think the face says it all (or maybe it was a bit exaggerated), he wasn’t impressed with having gone for a walk and was now feeling damp and cold. Or maybe he found out what his umbrella looked like. I don’t know.

Below are photos of our son last year riding outdoors. I couldn’t take good photos of him riding today since the riding took place indoors and I also didn’t want to risk using the flash on my camera around the horse.

This white horse is her own, he’s such a beautiful horse.

On the ride back home all I could think of was having a nice hot bowl of soup for dinner to warm up. But instead we were greeted back home by the smell of a free-range chicken cooking in the oven. Our daughter had put dinner on like she does (most) every evening, except today it was cooking earlier. What a nice treat.
