Happy Birthday Dear Daughter…

☆*♥¸.•*¨`*•♫♪♫♪ Happy Birthday Amy ☆*♥¸.•*¨`*•♫♪♫♪

Twenty-four years ago you arrived into our world.
A tiny little bundle, so beautiful and sweet.
Who came to light my path, and teach me what life was all about.

Mom & Amy

Looking back at all these years, you have given me so many wonderful memories…

from singing your little heart out before you even knew how to read all the words in a song book…
figure skating around the kitchen table with some make-believe figure skates made out of cardboard and us holding up a flashlight, so you could perform like it was the real thing…
you were wise beyond your years from the start, you were so mature even as a little girl…

drawing and colouring from the time you were old enough to hold big colouring crayons, while sitting in your high chair… or laying on your belly on the floor when you were a few years old and making some great artwork that you were proud to show…

from your written words, and poetry, you have such a gift with words…

from make-believe play and costumes… to performances standing near the fireplace using it as your stage…
starting school and knowing how write all the numbers to 1,000 when you were just in senior-kindergarten…

and reading books to you every opportunity that I had when you were very young… but there was no fooling you when you would request the same books read over and over and I was getting tired… my attempts to skip over a few pages never worked :)… you had the books all memorized, there was no shortcuts allowed…

you were a role model, a teacher, a big sister to your little brother… you taught him so much just through play…
to the pretty flowers you would pick for me, those nice yellow dandelions…

to all the piano playing and the music you brought to our home and family…

Beautiful music...

and eventually the saxophone and now the ukelele… you have no shortage of talent… and to now using your beautiful voice to sing…

to always reaching for, and achieving beyond what you thought you could do… you excelled at everything you set your mind to…
to always helping others that was who you were…
to when you changed schools to go to an enrichment program and how you left your old classmates in grade 6 and you gave them each a personal written message of what they meant to you…

to finishing high school as top student in your grade and school…
and for bringing that school to life through your presence and beautiful art…

to University… then to un-schooling yourself so you could really discover the true you…
these last few years I have really seen you emerge and come to life through giving yourself this gift of freedom and allowing!

I admire you for your determination, compassion, wisdom, and for choosing at times the path that is less travelled and showing me that it can be done.

The big beautiful butterfly that had found a place to land that day… only shows the transformation you were beginning as you gave yourself permission to explore the deeper meaning of your life.
I’m so happy that you are discovering all of this as a young woman… your life will be that much richer.

The Landing of a Beautiful Butterfly

And this I would have to say your Best Friend in the world… who brings you more smiles and joy than I have ever seen…

Russell

Words cannot express how proud and blessed I am to have you for my daughter…

Thank you for teaching me
Thank you for showing me the way and that anything is possible
Thank you for being you, the real you!

I Love You Amy! xoxo

Happy 24th Birthday!
Wishing you the very best year ever!
Love Mom xoxoxo

  1. Aww! love it! Happy Birthday, Amy! Here’s to totally awesomesauce year 😉

  2. I wonder if anything could be more precious than a mother and her daughter. (Ok, a mother and her son is pretty special too!) This really warmed my heart. It was interesting to learn about Amy a little more, but to see her through your eyes, Suzanne, was magical. Happy Birthday, once again, Amy!

  3. What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful girl! That is the best gift anyone could ask for – an honest portrayal of someone special in your life. Wishing Amy a Happy Birthday! xo
