Juicing and smoothies

I woke up on Saturday morning and immediately decided that I was going to take several days or even a week and do only juicing and smoothies for myself. Even though I had done the Master Cleanse for 3 days or just last month, followed by the remainder of that week with juicing. I realized that it wasn’t enough or not quite the right thing for me and that this time I wanted it to be in the form of using food.

I have been tired of feeling bloated, having aches and pains, brain fog and carrying an extra 10 lbs or more that I don’t need. I didn’t know where to even start so I prayed and asked for guidance… and what I woke up to on Saturday morning was knowing exactly what I needed to do.

Today was day 3 and I’ve had some great tasting smoothies and but also some simple juicing with just carrots and apples. I’m alternating between using my juicer and my Vitamix to create my health drinks. I feel full and content having my 3 or 4 drinks of juicing a day as well as drinking water. In total I’m feeling much lighter. I have way more energy, and I barely have any aches or pains in my body and already I feel the brain fog being lifted. There is something to be said about eating only whole foods to nourish our bodies. I look forward to what tomorrow will bring. Today I tried a drink that left me feeling a bit grossed out but I managed to gulp it down… I put a bit too much cilantro, and the taste of garlic and ginger was a bit much as well.

On Mother’s Day we had my parents over for dinner, my daughter cooked a nice dinner… homemade poutine (a french canadian dish) with vegan gravy, roasted vegetables and a nice salad… with blueberry scones for dessert. The temptations was there a little… but instead I made myself a big smoothie. There’s willpower in me. ๐Ÿ™‚

My mother was a bit concerned that this was all I was going to have for dinner, but I reminded her of the amount of food that I had packed in my Vitamix before turning it into a smoothie. Slowly my family is getting used to the idea that I do cleanses and juicing to improve my health and wellbeing.

I am very grateful for the guidance I received and moved forward with. Next, I need to ask for guidance on how to get more active and in shape in a fun way that I will enjoy. I hate exercising, but my body is showing me that I need to get serious about it. I do have plans for this summer at our local community pool where I will do AquaFitness classes a few times a week… but until then I need to find something that will work for me.

I would love to hear how you incorporate exercise into your life while making it fun and enjoyable. Or how you have been able to make it a part of your daily routine with ease.

I like the heated yoga. I just started going and it really does test your mind as much as your body. I love how I feel the day after I go! It’s really amazing. Of course, breathing and the quietness is good for my soul too. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you Karen for sharing about the heated yoga,I’ll have to try it. I could use some quietness as well. It sounds very relaxing all the while helping the body.
      Have a lovely evening!

You have much willpower, Suzanne! I tried juicing – but I so dislike cleaning the machine afterwards… it doesn’t make it appealing to me anymore!

    • Yes it’s a bit of a job cleaning the juicer especially, but the Vitamix I add a few drops of dish detergent with warm water and put it on high speed for a minute, self-clean almost. ๐Ÿ™‚
